So my holiday season has been anything but normal, then again, nothing is when you get my family together. Everything started the day after Thanksgiving, then progressively got crazier.
(Black Friday) My mom and I decided to skip out on the shopping because I really hate fighting the crowds, so we didn’t go. But later towards the evening we decided to eat out for dinner. So we decide on a little Mexican restaurant in Plainview that she told me was pretty good. So we get our teas and chips and salsa and we’re just chit-chatting about any and everything. She goes silent for a moment and grabs her jaw/throat area. I was thinking maybe she swallowed a chip wrong but then she was short of breath (no, she wasn’t choking). The pain started getting worse and in her back and chest so we decided to get on to the emergency room. Luckily we were already pretty close by the hospital. So we go in, they take her immediately while I’m left to fill out her paperwork/insurance info and what not.
They start doing tests and things to figure out what was causing her to be in so much pain. So about 5 hours later they start to think there might be a clot in her lung so they call for a CT scan. So they do the scan and they didn’t see a clot. BUT they found what they thought was an anurism on her aorta. They start kinda freaking out, and in turn, freaking us out. They decided to have her airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock and have a surgeon waiting for her. (This is around midnight) So they fly her off to Lubbock and she had a six hour emergency heart surgery. The next time I saw her she was in the SICU and was still under sedation. Let me tell you it was the hardest thing in the world to me seeing my mom in such a position. I was talking to a nurse who happened to be in the surgery and he said everything went well and they repaired the damage. They also said if she waited an hour or two later to come in she would have bled out from within. (scary, i know). THREE days later they finally woke her up, a few days after that she was in her own room. And two weeks later we were finally not living in the hospital anymore. But there’s always good with the bad, like my brother being able to come home from Iraq for a bit to see mom, and my other brother coming to visit from Colorado, and then my Nana coming from Florida to help me out when Mom returned home. A week or two after she came home everyone left, only to return for the Christmas holiday.
(5 days before Christmas) My Nana returns with my Pawpaw (who, btw is my favorite person in the world) and her sister who she takes care of. (she’s had 5 strokes and doesn’t have control of her left arm/leg) and Then Zach returned (the brother in Colorado). So we’re all pretty excited Christmas just because it’s been a long time since we’ve spent it together. The 23rd is my Nana’s birthday so we were mixing baking and singing Happy birthday. (she was really surprised when I said I just had to get gas in my car but returned with a birthday cake). I honestly have never ever cooked so much in my entire life. haha. Well on Christmas Eve we ate our massive dinner and boo-coo amount of desserts. We ended up getting really impatient and decided to open all of our presents early so we could sleep in in the morning, so that’s what we did. The next day we went over to see more family on my step-dads side and we had MORE food and gifts and what-not. So when we were finished there we went home and I past out from turkey-coma.
skip to:
(New Years Eve Eve) My boyfriend and I decided to call it quits. With me staying here in Texas and him being in Colorado we thought we should just let each other go. Even though I knew it was the right thing to do it still hurt like hell. But we’re on good terms and there’s no ill-will towards each other. What more could you ask from a break up? haha
(New Years Eve) So I’m still pretty raw from the breakup the previous night and decided to start drinking around 5pm. haha. So I polished off my bottle of wine and then some, and still somehow made it to watch the ball drop. haha. I went to bed around 1:00. Then woke up around 3am to puke my guts out, but I felt good after that. Haha.
(New Years) I wake up the next morning with a hangover and with my dreaded first day of the cycle cramps. (you get the point). So I really felt like I was dying. haha. I stayed in best mosty and relaxed in a hot bath and later in the afternoon I felt pretty good. Then I had a craving for ice cream and we didn’t have any. So I put on some clothes and jump in my car. The previous days had been filled with some snow and it had been melting a lot too so me living on a dirt road means lot of mud. So I am going down the driveway and I get my car stuck in the mud. So I walk through the mud to get Zach and Willie (mothers husband) to help me out. First they laughed at me (i expected it, haha) So they leave to go to someones house to borrow tow straps to pull me out. Then I had to go back outside because I left my cell phone in my car. I turn around to see a boxer attacking one of my mom’s outdoor cats. I wasn’t about to get in the middle of it because I’m not going to get bit by a dog. So he kills her and it was horrible to watch and hear. Not 5 minutes later he goes after the other one and kills her right in front of me as well. So I’m freaking out and go inside.
(Next day) We decide to make the remaining outdoor cat an inside cat and after holding her and petting we discover she’s pregnant and we’re going to have kitties! haha
So I’m so happy it’s over because it’ll take the rest of the year to recover. haha. I hope everyone had an interesting holiday as well.
Peace and <3
